January Ipsy Bag Reveal

Who doesn’t love getting a special surprise in the mail every month? (To be honest, I’d get excited about anything in my mailbox that’s not a bill!) I love this new trend of box subscriptions. There’s a box subscription for just about everything you could ever want now-a-days. I’ve been wanting to try out new cosmetic products lately, but there’s so much out there, I’m overwhelmed stepping into a store like Ulta or Sephora.

One day while browsing my Instagram feed, I came across one of my friend’s post of her monthly Ipsy bag she just subscribed to. I was intrigued and did a little research. It was love at first click! How Ipsy is set up, is that you fill out a profile describing your skin type, what kind of makeup you like, & what kind of makeup you’re willing to experiment with. Then, each month you get your very own personally curated bag full of good sized cosmetic products ranging from skin care products, nail polish, make up goodies, & hair products. Not to mention a cute little make up bag to carry it all in. But what’s best is that you get all of this each month for $10!! Yes, honey! You heard right. Most box subscriptions (on average) range between $25-80 every month. But with Ipsy you get monthly goodies for $10. Though my budget is tight, I couldn’t help splurging on a little something for myself each month & Ipsy is where it’s at!

January Ipsy Bag Reveal

I’ve been an Ipsy subscriber for about 3 months now & they have yet to disappoint. So today, I thought I’d share with you what I got in this month’s bag.

Hikari Cosmetics Mechanical Eye Pencil in Storm

Hikari Eyeliner

I love eyeliner. I love black eyeliner. That’s all I’ve ever worn. So, when I opened up my Ipsy bag, I was excited to see I got another eyeliner. I assumed that “Storm” meant black because that’s the first color I think of when I think of a storm, but I was wrong….so very wrong. I was shocked to discover that my new eyeliner was a shimmering silver. I was a bit hesitant, but thought I’d give it a try. I’ve heard that colors like this are supposed to highlight some part of your eye to bring out something or another in your eyes. I’m not an expert at makeup so I just applied it in a few different ways to experiment. I liked the glimmer & the shimmer, but there was no dramatic edge that I was expecting with that color.

La Fresh Eco Beauty Day Moisturizer

La Fresh Day Moisturizer

Lately my face has been really dry. I’ve always had combination skin. Oily around the T-zone & dry around the cheeks & lips. I was excited to see a moisturizer in my Ipsy bag. The first thing I noticed when I put it on my face was that it smelled pleasantly like cucumber. This day moisturizer is really light but very moisturizing. I think I applied a dime sized amount on my face the moisture lasted me the entire day. Plus, I love the packaging it came in. I’m not sure if this is how they always package their things, but this one is perfect for travel or going to the gym.

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm

Malin & Goetz Lip Balm

A girl can never have enough lip balm. At least I know I can’t! I fell in love this this lip balm the first time I applied it to my thirsty lips. It’s a little glossy, but not sticky glossy where you’re hesitant to kiss your bf. It doesn’t exacly smell like a mojito, but it does have a refreshing citrusy scent to it. I would say reapply time is about 4-5 hours. It gives a good lasting moisture to my lips & my lips get chapped very easily. It’s the perfect size for my purse & pockets. This lip balm has definitely made it to my favorite lip balms list. Once I run out, this will be a product I will be heading to the store for.

Manna Kadar Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion

Manna Kadar Sheer Glo

Though I love all things that glitter, I’ve never been a fan of glittery/shimmery lotions. I like the more organic ways of getting glitter on me rather than purposefully slathering it on my body. Needless to say, I wasn’t too excited about this item. But for the sake of giving a review, I gave it a try. I applied a nickel sized amount to my forearm & was surprised that I wasn’t obnoxiously sparkly. It provided just the right amount of shimmer that still looked like a natural glow. It doesn’t provide much moisture, but I’m assuming it’s main purpose to provide shimmer. There’s not much of a smell either, but I’d totally use a dab or two for special occasions when the sun kissed look is what I’m going for.

Pacifica Eye Shadow in Treasure

Pacifica Eyeshadow

This eyeshadow is the perfect natural color for me. Well blended, it serves as the perfect base color and adds a shimmer that I love on my eyes. With my skin color, it wasn’t too light or too dark. At first, it was a little light, but once I played around and blended it in well, it turned into a perfect neutral shade.

Overall, I love my January Ipsy bag. This month’s theme was “Fresh Start” & each item definitely made me feel fresh in some way. Intrigued? Join Ipsy today

I love Ipsy so much & the thing about it is, it’s only $10…what’s the harm in that?!
