You’ve heard about this whole green smoothie craze, right? The first time I heard about it, I thought to myself…”Why exactly is it green?” My guesses weren’t too far off, but I was pleasantly surprised when I actually tasted one for myself. Loaded with leafy greens, nutrients, and fruit, green smoothies are a yummy way of getting that extra portion of veggies in your diet. I recently went on a 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse & I’ve been delighted by my health results (but I’ll talk more about that later!) I understand it takes some time for some to warm up to the idea of a smoothie packed with leaves such as kale, spinach, or chard, but stick with me here. I’m living proof of the many health benefits of partaking in a daily green smoothie. Those benefits include:**

  • Clearer Skin
  • Full body detox (*if you do a full smoothie cleanse)
  • Weight Loss
  • Increased energy
  • Healthy meal replacement
  • Better periods (*which is a big deal for me! Check out this post!)

**These benefits aren’t back by science or research, but have been personal benefits I’ve experienced since drinking green smoothies. And I’ve heard a lot of other people have experienced the same!

I’ve followed many green smoothie recipes, but I’ve also done a bit of experimenting myself. Today, I’d like to share with you 3 green smoothie recipes I love making in hopes that you give them a try & let me know what you think. Each smoothie will make 12-16 oz. I have the Ninja Bullet Pro & each recipe fills up the large cup.

  • 1/2 cup frozen organic blueberries

Green Smoothie Recipes

As I mentioned earlier, I recently completed my first 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse. It was horrible, wonderful, & revealing all at the same time. I came across the cleanse program when I kept hearing my mom talking about. This Green Smoothie Cleanse was created by author & nutritionist JJ Smith. Though I never heard of her, I thought I’d give it a try. Before my green smoothie cleanse I had a love/hate relationship with food. Though I’m gluten free, lately every time I ate a meal I ended up feeling bloated, overstuffed, and miserable no matter what or how much I ate. I loved food but I hated how it made me feel. I heard that doing a green smoothie cleanse could really detox the body properly, so that was my main reason for doing it. But afterward, it became so much more than a detox! My skin was clearer, my period was surprisingly bearable, I lost a few inches in my waist, and I felt more naturally energized (despite my restrictions from caffeine!) All in all, I was very pleased with the results after the 10 days. The first 4 days were the worst, but I wouldn’t mind doing a green smoothie cleanse every now & then to clean things up on the inside.

Have you gotten into the green smoothie craze? What do you think about them?
